Additional description

Top part of a rectangular altar with moulded cornice. The monument suffered fire damage. Three depressions on the top surface. Below the cornice: relief of an eagle with spread wings and head turned to the right, holding a wreath in its beak. On the cornice: three lines of text (badly damaged, line 1 is virtually lost).

Translation

Thanks offering on behalf of children.

 

Commentary

The image of an eagle suggests that the altar may have been a dedication to Zeus-Jupiter. Cf. a dedication of an altar to Zeus Diberanos (III 129).
