Commentary

The name Βισθᾶς is attested two more times in Chersonesos: in an epitaph of the Hellenistic period (III 299), Βισθᾶς Διονυσίου is mentioned; the same name is used as a patronymic of Herakleidas (Ἡρακλείδας Βισθᾶ) who was honoured as a proxenos in Delphi in 192 B.C.E. (Syll.3 58557; ср. Syll.3 604; Avram PPE 3193). Due to the rareness of the name, we cannot exclude that the named individuals are related (Perlman 2011, 446).
