Commentary

Published with photo of plate's interior, profile drawing and drawing of dipinto in Monakhov et al. 2019, 28, fig.3 (no.3). The shape is that of a curling hook, or, if alphabetic, it might be a pi (?) or rho (either originally incomplete or poorly preserved). Perhaps worth noting: "curling hook" as a pre-firing mark on VI-century amphora from Nikosia (Johnston 2004, p. 749, catalogue no. 79).
